I've just spent a couple of days in Pembrokeshire and was gearing myself up for a feast of camper van spotting. Was surprised to spot only the three - and one of them had a German numberplate. I suppose I shoulnd't have been that surprised for a number of reasons:
1. It was a Monday
2. It was a Monday in November
3. It was a Monday in November and the weather wasn't great

To give you some eye candy, take a butchers at this: my framed VW postcards. The bottom one isn't that important (it's a Beetle). Nice, though.

The 'love' phone

Thought I'd share another pic with you - my groovy camper van 'love' phone. It looks huge in the picture, but it's actually only rather bigger than a standard phone receiver. A bit bulkier, yes, but no heavier.

Up north, the land of the Gog

Drove up north to Chester and north Wales during the week, my old stomping ground. A perfect opportunity for camper van spotting! The weather was pretty good and as I go the scenic way I was expecting to see quite a few of them. I know campers aren't bought for their high-spec performances, so reckoned if there where any of them they'd be trundling along the A and B roads. I spotted four on the way up and three on the way down.

I know it's the premiere of the new Bond film tonight - but guess what! My headline has nothing to do with it! I tricked you! What it is about is my new Volkswagon Bus 2007 (geddit) calendar, bought this lunchtime in Cardiff. It has lovely pictures - and I was particularly taken with the 1960 VW crew cab - looks like it's come straight out of an Elvis Presley movie! (Was he making them then? Haven't a clue, but am sure you know what I'm on about). The calender is licensed by Volkswagen in Germany, so it's kosher - and not that cheap. But worth it. A whole year of bus eye candy...

Camper vision

I was at the hairdressers on Saturday, having my hair done (not suprisingly!) and, as you do, I was flicking through some mags, waiting for the timer to go off. (Boys, you won't understand, girls, you know where I'm coming from).

There was a smart looking mag called Icons, never heard of it before, but glossy and expensive looking. And there was a fashion piece with a lovely double spread of two camper vans! Ok, so there was a tall, leggy blonde in weird, unwearable clothing, too. But I only had eyes for the vans. I've got it bad.

I'm in heaven

Well, I am, but don't worry, I'm not dead - yet. Just been drooling over the pictures on this site - a must for every UK VW camper van enthusiast. Actually really liking the 'new' ones - all mod cons, a fab retro look... but the price! Yikes!

Did you see the Jamie Owen show last night? Forgot to say it was on BBC 2 Wales ...didn't catch it all but spotted the lovely green VW camper... drool. It looked lovely. Wales looked nice, too!

Have set the reminder on my TV for 19.30 to watch Jamie Owen's Welsh Journeys tonight. As Auntie says: Jamie climbs aboard an antique VW camper for a weekend of sunshine and surf to celebrate 50 years since Gower was declared Britain's first area of outstanding natural beauty.

Our beautiful country AND a camper van! Swoon....

Bits and bobs

I have another knick-knack to add to my treasure trove.. a metal keyring! I have more baubles on my key ring than I have keys, they clank when I'm driving, but they're fun!

Spotted TWO camper vans the other day - a lovely red one and a rather battered orange one. Red, orange and green seem to be the most popular colours of the type I like.

A comment from reader June says they're hard to maintain... and I don't doubt it! The fact is I've never even sat in one let alone driven one!
